I was reading in Acts the other day and came across an extremely familiar story. It is one of those which you learn at a very young age and whenever the pastor begins to talk about it think, “been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.”
As many of you know, I have been doing the SOAP method of daily devotions for quite awhile now. So, I picked up my journal and began to write down my observations and applications from the story of Saul on the road to Damascus. Here is what I wrote…
S (Scripture) – Acts 9:15, 16
O (Observations) – A chosen instrument, the one hand-picked by the player, the one he chose to use. It is used to play the song of the instrumentalist – the instrument does not get the glory (doesn’t even get to choose the song), instead the master musician gets all the credit. Even more, the instrument will suffer through it.
A (Application) – How does God want to use me? He has a specific purpose, something which will bring Him great glory. I must let Him choose the song and play me to perfection as He chooses.
P (Prayer) – Lord, I am Your instrument to be used for Your purpose. Help me to submit daily to Your desires, even if I will suffer for Your sake.
As you look at this passage, what are your thoughts? What is God putting on your heart and challenging you with?
