Thanksgiving or Giving Thanks

Everyone is asking the question. We talked about it at work, in our Community Group, on Facebook, and even with the baristas at the coffee shop. So, “what are you doing for Thanksgiving?”

I liked the answer one of our twin boys gave at the table this past week. He said, “I will be giving thanks.” Too simplistic? Maybe, but it’s the only time I’ve heard an answer anywhere close to that. Instead, I know which house many families are going to and who will be cooking the meal. I could tell you which homes are looking forward to the football games and which will keep the tv’s off. I can tell you who is going to bed early so that they can go shopping at 12midnight or early the next morning. And, I even know the employees who will be working at Safari Sam’s, as it will be open Thanksgiving Day this year.

I probably don’t have to tell you my point. Please take time to be thankful this year. Sure, family, food, football, and fun are all great (even things to be thankful for), but nothing in comparison to who God is and the peace, joy, and comfort He can bring to our lives regardless of the circumstances we have experienced this past year. Share with others, let them know, who God is to you and how grateful you are for Him.
