Being a youth pastor for over 15 years, I used to always tell my staff... "You need to meet students on their turf." I cannot count the number of sporting events, school plays, music performances, and even speech competitions I've attended. Have you ever been to a middle school beginning band concert? Now that's devotion!
So why do I as a Christ follower often try to invite the world to me? Do I expect people to have the same priorities as I do when they do not have the same relationship with my God? I've discovered over the years that I ask people to come to my turf, where I have the homefield advantage, where I am comfortable. In doing so, I have built walls and placed obstacles in the way of my friendships.

So I ask myself, am I making an effort to meet people on their own turf? What does that look like? What will happen if I do it?
What do you think?
